How to Line and Flood a Cookie with Royal Icing

First make and roll out your dough. I always put my cutout dough on a cookie sheet in the freezer for about ten minutes before I bake it. This will prevent spreading.

You can buy precision rollers, but because I'm a poor college student I use wooden dowels! They work the exact same.

After your cookies are made it's time to make your Royal Icing. You can find my recipe and tutorial here.

Line your cookie with the thicker consistency (this is a #2 tip)

Once all cookies are lined, let them dry for about thirty minutes to an hour.

Now it's time to flood! I use a toothpick to drag the frosting to the edges. Make sure once the cookie is totally flooded to pop all the bubbles with your toothpick.

Once you've waited about 12-24 hours (depending on the size of the cookie), you can add the small details. I added super pearl dust to make my cupcake's sparkle!

I did a dry application with a paintbrush.

Until next time :)

Henna Cookies

I've been DYING to make this kind of cookie for a long time, but haven't had anything to make them for. Finally, I was able to make them for an open house!! To make these I just looked at a bunch of different henna tattoo pictures on google. Creative? Yes. This is what I came up with!

I really want to try doing these cookies one more time. I thought they turned out good, but they could be better. It definitely takes a steady hand (that I don't have)! By the last cookie though, I kinda had the hang of it. I'm exited to do some more of these babies!

Happy Cookie-ing :)

For the Elders

I made these Tie cookies for a lady in my ward (that goes to my church). She and three other families had an open house for their three sons coming home from their two year missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I also did the flags of each place they went. One missionary went to California, the other went to New Mexico and the last went to the Dominican Republic. Welcome home Elders! Thanks for your order Jill!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Cowgirl Up!

I finally got a new USB cord for my camera today! I was so happy to see it :) Here are some cowgirl cookies I did for a three year old birthday. I sent them to Arizona, thankfully they made it through the heat.. but unfortunately a few broke (the butterflies). These were a challenge to do when I realized I didn't have a horse cookie cutter and that is what she wanted. But, it worked out! And these horses didn't break.

Stay tuned for a tutorial some time this week!

Happy baking :)

Flower Cookies

This was an order for thank you cookies to people who helped moving some new neighbors in. It's always fun to get new neighbors, especially when they have the most darling kids! (seriously, they are so cute) Thanks Jessica for your order! Welcome to Virginia.

Bon Jour!

E
very time my husband and I visit Utah, all the girls in the family have a tea party. Oh we had such good food! Homeade marshmallows and hotchocolate (no, no real tea), cake, cookies, mini muffins and cucumber sandwiches. It is VERY sophosticated. (I won't mention the fact that my mom accidently dumped a plate of cookies into a cup of hot chocolate and it went everywhere.. we have good manners). I decided to make Paris tea party cookies. Ooh la la!

Baby Blue Baby Shower

It's baby time! My aunt Jane is having her first baby at the end of August. While she was in Utah we threw her a baby shower. Since I was a little girl, I have always been a party planning nerd. Seriously, whenever it was someone's birthday in the fam I was always the one planning and making my mom or dad go to the store and buy all the food and decorations, so I could create the perfect party. As soon as a birthday was over, I'd be thinking of the many ways I could decorate and plan for the next one (you may think I'm kidding but I'm not).

For this shower I had the privilege of decorating and doing a dessert table. For the cookies I wanted something different than a plain rocking horse, so I did some funky little brown, green and silver zebra rocking horses. I loved the way everything turned out! Now you will notice the pictures are amazing, seriously they are perfect, only thanks to Julie who is an incredible photographer (check her out here).

This makes me want a new camera SO bad! Of course, I could never make anything look nearly as beautiful as Julie does. (She also took pictures of my little boy.. I'm in love)

I loved creating this dessert table, it is something I can always get excited about! Now I must go, so I can start planning my next party ;) (but seriously).

Cinderella Birthday

These cinderella cookies and cake were SO much fun to make!! My neice turned 3 and wanted a princess cake (I only do cakes every once and a while.. they aren't exactly my forte).  Thanks for letting me do these, happy birthday sweet little girl!

Wedding Favor Cookies

I did 64 wedding favors for each guest at a wedding dinner this last weekend. The bride had green apples and hot pink gerber daisies with silver accents as her decorations, everything looked so beautiful! These little apples matched perfectly. Congrats Skylar and Chelsey! I have more pictures coming on these babies, with a much better camera (I am planning on getting a new camera in October.. I can't wait)!

Dear ol' Davis High School

My little Brother Riley is Graduating from Davis High School tomorrow. I made these cookies for him (he played basketball for Davis so I did a "Dunk" cookie because he won the dunk contest his senior year and one with his number on it) and shipped them off to Utah! Love you Ri, Congrats!!
